Sprang is a neat method of weaving that has been around for a few thousand years. One item that was woven with this method is Edward Braddock's sash. Incorporated in the sash are images of men and the date 1709. At 2:20 in the video the sash with its thin silk threads is shown capable of carrying a person as a stretcher.
